Simple Machines and Measuring Lines

This week students looked at the advantages and disadvantages of pulleys and ramps. We also tested how they might reducing the force required to move a load, when lifting or moving weight. Notes on simple machines for review purposes, can be found on D2L under the content section of the our Math/Science shell.

In Math, students have been measuring and estimating line segments without the use of rulers or calculators. If you are looking to practice this a bit more, follow the links for practice problems and online geoboards here. Next week we will start using the Pythagorean theorem.

Enjoy your extended weekend!
