Fairy Tales Project due Monday

Hi 8-1 and 8-2!
Just a reminder and a heads-up for parents that Part 2 and 3 of our Fairy Tale project are due on Monday. Part 2 is a visual "first page" of your chosen fairy tale, including an illuminated letter in Middle Ages style, and Part 3 is a prepared retelling of your tale for our class (can be told/acted out live or pre-recorded). Students have had 4 hours of class time this week to work on these, and we have had many discussions about ensuring everyone has access to all of the work to be able to contribute at home, and how to divide up work before leaving for a weekend. :)

It would be great if you could ask your child at home tonight about what they will need to do over the weekend to be ready to share these next week, so we can work out any challenges with accessing documents, etc. by tomorrow.

We have had a great week in Hums talking about the catalysts for change that brought about change and the end of the Middle Ages. We had a great discussion about "When is change good?" where students helped me navigate the spectrum of positions between tradition and progress, as well as explore the question of what is lost in change, and what is gained? I told them this would make an excellent family dinner table conversation! Next week we are excited to begin moving into the Renaissance and meeting Leonardo daVinci (my favourite!)

Have a great weekend and thank you for your ongoing support.
